A Metro Pulse article about me and my business card collection

April 23rd, 2008 | Category: Business Cards, Media & News

My story is out. I just wanted to point it out to you.
READ THE STORY ABOUT ME!.

You can read the story by clicking the above link or you can pick up a copy of the Metro Pulse’s April 23, 2008 issue. I thought Metro Pulse came out on Thursdays, but it seems my story was out on Wednesday (today). I bet when they changed to a new printer, they changed the publication date. Now, I need to go to a local store and pick me up a couple copies of this article.

Rose Kennedy, the reporter for the article, did a great job with it. She even took a great picture of me for the article too. What are you waiting for? READ THE STORY ABOUT ME!.

I wonder how many business cards and visits to my Web site I will get from this article?
I guess, I can only wait and see.

Now to my business cards I gained today
I picked myself up 2 business cards. LiveJournal UserInfoiposty sent me 23 business cards today, along with 23 duplicates. He also sent me some “gift cards” for a local person who collects gift cards. I will send those to her soon. Check out Jolie’s Gift Cards for more information. I now move onto a collector in Castle Rock, CO sent me 59 business cards, along with 1 duplicate. Finally, I gained 6 business cards from a normal contributor from Arkadelphia, AR.

My new overall total of business cards is 151,120.

Thanks to everyone who has sent me business cards, those who plan to send me business cards and also those who tells everyone else to send me business cards too. I appreciate it very much.

Possible Article soon!

April 18th, 2008 | Category: Media & News

I might have another article done about me and my business card collection. I won’t share too much right now, as I am not totally sure, but when I get it confirmed when, I will make sure to make a post to announce this article. I had a phone interview today. The person actually called me 3 times today and even set up a date and time for the photo op.

business cards, Yesterday’s Total

April 06th, 2008 | Category: Business Cards, Family, Media & News

Yesterday was so crazy! I didn’t get to count my cards and totals until today.

I gained 102 business cards from Saturday, April 5, 2008. I gained 3 business cards from My Wife & Daughter. Along with 2 duplicates. I also gained 20 from someone in Seattle, WA. It did not have a return address on it, but did have a note saying they have been meaning to send me these ever since I was on National Public Radio (NPR) from nearly 2 years ago this 22nd of April. My story is still on the site, Link to my NPR Story. I also gained 79 business cards from a Where’s George user who lives in Maryville, TN and is now relocating to Renton, WA. This nice box of business cards included 5 business card boxes full of duplicates. I estimate I gained 2,300 duplicates. Back to the NPR story part. When that story aired, I had 85,000 business cards. Today, I have 150,440 business cards.

Article about me

March 14th, 2008 | Category: Business Cards, Media & News

I found an article online about me.
I did a search on Google News for “Cardeologist
and came across this one from Feb. 29, 2008 by Kelli Grant.
The title is The Right Business Card.

I wrote the place and asked for a copy of that article.
I even included a link to that article and they replied back to me.
We have many publications sir, we need to know which publication you were in.
I replied back, I gave you the link to the article. I figured that would help.
I am unsure of what publication it is in, but guessing by the domain name it is in Financial Planning.

I don’t recall having an interview for this article.
I think she pulled information from my Web site, but some things seem misquoted a little.
Such is life eh? But hey it got “Cardeologist” name out there.

Here is a link to that article:
http://www.financial-planning.com/asset/article/548901/right-business-card.html

Break down from the article from what they said I said…

Unusual Cuts
Steve Patterson, a graphic arts designer known as the “Cardeologist” for his extensive business card collection, has seen his share of unique cards. Some are cut to resemble bananas, pianos and light bulbs. Others are tiny; less than a third of the 3.5″x2″ standard. “They really stand out quite a bit,” he says.
Yes this is true

But an unusual cut can make a card tough for a consumer to hang on to—small cards especially are easy to lose. The best cut adjustments are slight ones, say, rounded edges or a shape that’s more parallelogram than rectangle.
No, I believe unusual cuts and smaller cards make it easier for someone to remember. If they are unusual, you may hang onto them longer than a traditional business card.

Creative Cardstock
Your business card can be printed on just about any material, says Patterson—including glass, leather, wood, plastic and magnets. What makes these cards appealing is the way they feel, he says.
yes, this is true

Unfortunately, they’re also pricey and unwieldy in bulk.
I did mention they are too pricey!

(Just imagine lugging around a pocketful of metal cards.)
I didn’t mention or say anything about this.

The solution: Keep it simple. You can bring a tactile element into your cards with embossed lettering, or textured linen or laid card finishes.
I didn’t say or mention this either
