The Tigers upset the Vols
I am doing my post a little different this week. I got to watch the game on tv today, since it was on a station I have.
Todays game, Vols vs. Tigers was played at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, TN and airred on CBS at 3:30 p.m. TN ranked 8th and LSU ranked 13th. Erik Ainge, last week hurt his ankle and won’t get much playing time tonight, leaving Crompton as the quarterback.
At the end of the first quarter the game is scoreless. LSU kept getting penalized left and right. They got a total of 6 penalties, most of them were False Starts. I think the shuffling that Tennessee was doing against LSU was shaking them up. Tennessee didn’t make any penalities in the 1st quarter. They did use Ainge during the 1st quarter.
LSU was the first to score in the game during the 2nd quarter. Tennessee used Crompton from the 2nd quarter on. Tennessee even scored in the 2nd. Then LSU came close to scoring again, but Tennessee intercepted the ball and it led to a field goal at the end of the 2nd quarter, making Tennessee lead the game.
The attendance record was 106,633 according to CBS.
The Aflac question on the tv was…
Who are the only 2 teams to play in a BCS championship game without winning their conference title game? — Nebraska in 2001 and Oklahoma in 2003.
During the 3rd quarter LSU started with the ball and Tennessee ended up intercepting that ball and went all the way with it for a touchdown. Shortly after that LSU scored a touchdown and later on they scored another one. After this Tennessee gets the ball to field goal range and attempts a field goal and the field goal was no good. Wilhoit is now 12 for 15 on field goal kicks this season.
Tennessee ended up picking up a 3rd interception of the game. Later down the way, LSU picked up its first interception of the game. LSU even fumbled the ball and Tennessee recovered it and Tennessee got a touchdown. Then LSU goes for it and scores a touchdown with 9 seconds left of the game to win the game. TN—24 to LSU&mdahs;28.
Since Tennessee lost this game, FL will be in the SEC championship game and Tennessee will not be eligable for the SEC championship game, nor will they be able to play in a BCS bowl game either.
The last time LSU beat Tennessee at Neyland Stadium was in 1988. This is also LSU’s 13th trip to Neyland Stadium.
