The Vols take a bite out of the Game Cocks!

October 28th, 2006 | Category: Uncategorized

OPENING THOUGHTS
I just made it to listen to the game. I was a Where’s George gathering. It was great. We went on the Tennessee River Boat and then Calhoun’s on the river. Anywho! I believe Tennessee can win this game against South Carolina. One thing is Swain was injured last week and won’t play tonight. This is Steve Spurier’s 2nd year at South Carolina. The game is in Columbia, SC. I am listening to the game on WIVK since I don’t have cable. The game is on ESPN and started at 7:45 p.m.

1st QUARTER
At kick off the tempature is 55&mdeg;. TN will kick the ball off to SC. Wilhoit will kick off the ball tonight (left to right). SC got a delay of game penalty. Marvin Mitchell picks up the fumble (ruled as an interception) and scores a touchdown! Wilhoit to tack on the extra point. It is… GOOD! TN—7 to SC—0. TN kicks off to SC. Wade just picked up the interception, he caught it in the in-zone. This is Wade’s 3rd interception of the season. TN’s 2nd interception of the game. False start against TN. Smith catches the ball in the in-zone and scores for TN. Now the play is in review. Play stands as called on the replay. Touchdown TN! Wilhoits extra point is… GOOD! TN—14 to SC—0. Wilhoit to kick off the ball to SC. Penalty, off sides against TN. At the end of the 1st quarter TN leads. TN—14 to SC—0.

2nd QUARTER
SC starts the 2nd having the ball. SC tried about 50 yrd. field goal. The ball is… good. TN—14 and SC—3. SC to kick it off to TN. Now TN will have to punt the ball to SC. Colquitt to punt the ball for TN. SC just scored a touchdown and the extra point is good. TN—14 to SC—10. SC kicks off to TN. TN punts the ball to SC. That is the end of the 1st half. TN leads the game. TN—14 to SC—10.

HALF TIME THOUGHTS
I just hope TN doesn’t get to cocky since they are leading. If they do you know what that means. I hope TN keeps on the way they are and will win this game.

3rd QUARTER
SC will kick the ball of to TN to start the 2nd half. Colquitt on to punt the ball for TN. SC turned the ball over to TN. Colquitt to punt it again for TN to SC, penalty, the ball if fumbled and TN recovers the ball. Illegal formation on TN. Repeat that 4th down. TN’s 6th penalty. They almost recovered this ball. This was a huge costly mistake on TN. So SC has the ball now. SC punts it to TN. Meachem (TN) had the ball and then fumbled the ball and SC recovered it. Now SC fumbled it and fell back on it and recovered it. Interference against TN.
Another penalty flag on the play, pass interferance against TN again. Touchdown SC! The extra point is… Good. TN—14 to SC—17. SC kicks off to TN. At the end of the 3rd, SC has the lead. TN—14 to SC‐17.

4th QUARTER
At the start of the 4th quarter TN has the ball. TN started the drive, penalty against TN (holding). The Vols make it to a touchdown, offsides against SC so the penalty was declined and Smith gets the touchdown for TN! Wilhoits extra point is… GOOD! TN—21 to SC—17. TN to kick it off right to left to SC. SC punts the ball to TN. Hefney picks up a 50+ yrd. punt and runs it down 60+ yrds. TN gets a touchdown on the first drive. Foster gets the touchdown for TN. The play is under review, the play stands as called on the field, TOUCHDOWN TN! Wilhoits extra point is… GOOD! TN—28 to SC—17. TN is 15 for 15 in Orange Zone for plays. TN kicks the ball off to SC. TN almost intercepted it, penalty, it could be pass interference, no penalty on the play. Another penalty. Official telling fans to stop throwing items on the field. SC punts to TN. Illegal formation against SC. Penalty, offsides against SC.
TN attempts a field goal. 21 yrd. field goal attempt, Wilhoits kick is… GOOD! TN—31 to SC—17. Wilhoit to kick it right to left to SC. Penalty against TN. False start against SC. Penalty, no penalty. SC scores a touchdown. SC’s extra point is… good. TN—31 to SC7mdash;24. SC kicks the ball off to TN. Crompton is up as quarterback now. Colquitt punts it for TN to SC. TN just intercepted the game by Morely as the last play of the game. TN wins the game TN—31 to SC—24.

CLOSING THOUGHTS
At the start of the game they said Jayson Swain wasn’t going to play, but they did play him anyways. TN will tie 1st place in the SEC East Division. This game was closer then what I thought it would be. From listening to the game on the radio, WIVK, it seemed like a great game to watch.

NEXT GAME
Our next game is LSU next week here in Knoxville, TN. This game will be on CBS at 3:30 p.m. This will be a tough team.

Where’s George gathering a hit! (no pun intended)

October 28th, 2006 | Category: Uncategorized

Today was the Knoxville Where’s George gathering. We went on the Tennessee River Boat for the 3 p.m. Sightseeing tour. After that, we had dinner at Calhoun’s on the river, adjacent to the river boat. Dinner started about 5 p.m. The river boat got a little delay starting out because just besides the dock, a rowing team sunk their boat. I didn’t know there was a rowing meet, people from all over were there for the rowing session. We all got to talk about Georging and other stuff. It was fun. We even got to trade bills. I even got 344 unique business cards and about 300-400 duplicated business cards from this gathering. We had fellow Georgers from TN, NC, GA, AL and NY in attendance. I got to meet…

Czhuckles (met him 3rd time now)
JBinthe615 (met him 3rd time now)
Iguana Girl (1st time meeting)
