I got a hit!

September 26th, 2006 | Category: Uncategorized

I got a hit! My hit! — This bill has travelled 144 Miles in 341 Days, 19 Hrs, 17 Mins at an average of 0.42 Miles per day. I entered this bill in Knoxville, TN and it is now in Athens, GA (30601/Clarke). It is at a bank, I hope it survives its visit. A bank teller enter the bill, looks like they are a Georger too.

Whining does wonders! I want more hits and I want them now!
*fingers crossed* Wish me luck!

Vol Victory for Home Coming!

September 23rd, 2006 | Category: Uncategorized

OPENING THOUGHTS
Today is Tennessee’s Homecoming game. A Tennessee Walking Horse was schedules to walk the field for the game, but that was called off due to the weather. The weather also delayed the game by an hour. They delayed it because of the lightening in the area. It has rained all day, I mean pour down hard rain. It also has been thundering and lightening all day. The rain even caused a lot of flooding in the Knoxville area. Tennessee doesn’t play that well when it rains. I am not sure about Marshall. I am not familiar with Marshall. Tennessee Vols ranked #15 and Marshall Thundering Herd (not in the top 25). I am having to listen to the game on WIVK, since I don’t have cable and I don’t see paying for a Pay Preview channel either.

Tennessee also didn’t get to run through the “T” because of the rain delay. Tennessee hasn’t ran through the “T” since 1963/64. The teams came on the field at 4:30 p.m. The rule is, you cannot kick the ball of until 30 minutes after both teams go on the field for the warm ups. So that means the game will begin at 5 p.m., instead of 4 p.m.

Even if I wasn’t listening/watching the game, I live close enough to the stadium to hear the fireworks, but far enough to not see the traffic from it.

Tennessee beat Marshall in 2003 with a score of 34 to 24 on September 6, 2003. This game was on ESPN and played in Knoxville, TN.*

1st QUARTER
At kick-off it is 69° with rain. The Vols will receive the ball first. Wilhoit attempts a field goal attempt and it was no good. Wilhoit has kicked 11 consecutive fields goals prior to this attempt. Marshall has the ball. Safety by Xavier Mitchell. Tenn—2 to Mrsh—0. Tennessee hasn’t scored a safety since the South Carolina game in 2005. Tenn now has the ball and almost had the ball intercepted. Tenn scores a touchdown. Erik Ainge passes the ball to Jayson Swain. Swain’s 3rd touchdown of the year. Wilhoit kicks the extra point and it is… GOOD! Tenn—9 to Mrsh—0. Mrsh now has the ball. Pentalty: Holding on Mrsh. Mrsh is the most costly penatly team in the CUSA. Another pentalty on Mrsh. False start. Mrsh. is 3rd down and 24 yrds to go. Now Tenn has the ball with 46 seconds left of the first quarter. Tenn.—9 to Mrsh—0.

2nd QUARTER
Tenn has the ball starting the 2nd quarter. Britton Colquitt had to punt the ball 47 yrds. to Mrsh. Now Mrsh has the ball. Pentaly: Personal Faul on Tenn. Tenn. almost intercepted it, but didn’t and it then ricoshet almost into Mrsh almost leading to a touchdown. Mrsh. still has the ball and another penalty, personal faul—roughing the passer against Tenn. Mrsh is 5 yrs away from a touchdown; 2 yrs from a first down. Mrsh gets a touchdown! The extra point is good! Tenn—9 to Mrsh—7 with 5:28 to go in the 2nd quarter. Tenn to receive the ball now from Mrsh’s kick off, penalty, offsides by Marshall. Ainge is the QB for this drive. Tenn almost missed this, but still picked it off from the ricoshet, then after that Tenn got a touchdown from Montario Hardesty. and Wilhoit’s extra point is GOOD! Tenn—16 to Mrsh—7. Tenn now kicks it off to Mrsh. Mrsh punts the ball to Tenn. Tenn has the ball. Colquitt punted the ball 67 yrds., his longest of this season. Mrsh now has the ball. Tenn—16 to Mrsh—7.

HALF TIME THOUGHTS
It has been a good 1st half of the football game, it still can be anyones game. I just hope that Tenn doesn’t start getting cocky because they are ahead, if they do, you know what will happen then. I am glad the rain is holding down for the most part. It still has been raining off and on, but not as bad as it has for most of all the day today. Tenn needs to step up the defence, since Mrsh starts the 2nd half with the ball.

3rd QUARTER
Wilhoit for Tenn kicks the ball of to Mrsh as the 3rd quarter starts. Mrsh takes over now. Mrsh goes for a 46 yrd. field goal attempt and it was no good! Mrsh ate off 7 mins (12 plays) of the 3rd quarter and now Tenn has the ball. Ainge was just hit and lost 2 yrds., he was hit just as hit was going to through the ball. Lucky we didn’t lose the ball. Colquit punts the ball, 59 yrds., for Tenn. Mrsh now has the ball on their 2 yrd. line. Mrsh gets another penalty, false start. Mrsh still has the ball. Another penalty, offsides, this time against Tenn. Mrsh still has the ball. Mrsh fumbled the ball and Demetrice Morley recovered it. This is the first fumble recovery for Tenn this year. What a way to end the 3rd quarter. This is the first time this season, that Tenn hasn’t scored with the first drive of the 2nd half. Tenn—16 to Mrsh—7.

4th QUARTER
Tenn starts the 4th quarter with the ball, after just picking up the Mrsh fumble at the end of the 3rd quarter. Mrsh just intercepted the ball from Ainge. So Mrsh gets the ball back. Now Mrsh has to punt the ball, 28 yrs., off to Tenn. So far this 2nd half has been scoreless. LaMarcus Cocker for Tenn just got an 89 yrd touchdown. The 3rd longest rushing touchdown in Tennessee’s history. Wilhoit to knock on the extra point, and it was good! Tenn—23 to Mrsh—7. Wilhoit to kick it off to Mrsh. Mrsh has the ball now. Penalty: No flag on the play. Mrsh still has the ball. Tenn (Jonathan Hefney) just intercepted the ball from Mrsh. Hefney got his 1st interception of the year, 5th for the his career at Tenn. Tenn has the ball and a flag on the play, false start against Tenn. Tennessee’s first offensive penalty of the game. Wilhoit attempts a field goal, 49 yrd. attempt. The field goal is GOOD! Tenn—26 to Mrsh—7. Wilhoit to kick off to Mrsh. Mrsh now has the ball with 5:10 left in the game. Mrsh has to punt the ball, 42 yrds., with 4:28 left of the game to Tenn. Tenn will run this clock out to win this ball game. Jonathan Crompton is now QB for Tenn. Flag on the play, side line warning against Mrsh (1st warning). Tenn still has the ball with 2:50 left of the game and will ride the clock. 3rd and short for Tenn with 47 seconds left of the game. TOUCHDOWN Tenn by David Yancey, his first touchdown of the season. Wilhoit to tack on the extra point, it is good! Tenn—33 to Mrsh—7. Tenn has to kick the ball off to Mrsh, 33 yrds., with 23 seconds left of the game. Mrsh with the ball and 10 seconds left of the game. Tennessee has a Home Coming victory of 33 to Marshall 7.

CLOSING THOUGHTS
It is a good thing to win at your Homeing Coming, but also it is good to win against a non-ranked team. If you didn’t win, something is wrong. This was a good game and I was also glad to see the secondary teams get a chance to get some playing time in this game. 104,818 in attendance at this game. I was very glad to see how well Tenn played in the rain tonight. We normally don’t play that well in the rain. Tenn is now 3 and 1 for this season and Mrsh is now 1 and 3 for this season. The player of the game according to WIVK is LaMarcus Coker. Mrsh had the ball 34 mins during the game and Tenn has it nearly 25 mins, but Tenn made more plays out of the time they had the possesion of the ball.

NEXT GAME
Our next game will be against Memphis at Memphis. It is schedule to be on ESPN2 at 12 p.m. I still won’t be able to watch this game, so I will have to listen to it on the radio again on WIVK, 107.7. If you are out of the area and still want to listen to the game you can online: WIVK.COM.
