Star of Knoxville
Tonight my work went on the Star of Knoxville. It was a really fun dinner cruise. My work did it as a celebration of Labor Day. The Star of Knoxville cruises down the Tennessee River. I even got to go up in the “Bridge.” The “Bridge” is where the Captain pilots the boat. It was very intresting up there and fun too.
I was given an award at by my work. This is what it says on it…

A few others got this same award, the reporters, my part-time designer, managing editor and the copy editor. Here is a picture of me with my award.

Below is a picture that they took before we boared the boat. They are required to take a picture of all passangers that board the boat by law from the Deptartment of Homeland Security. So they make a suvenior out of it too. So for $10 you can have a copy of your picture they took. Here is that picture of (myself) and (my wife). Did you know it takes about 5 years to complete your boating pilots license. I think it would be cool to have my boating license and be able to drive a big boat like the Star of Knoxville (steam boat).

I even got the singer on the boat to sing “Rocky Top” for me. I also spent a good bit of Georges on the boat. I gave one as a tip to the singer and a couple to the waiter that helped with our food. Then, I paid for the picture with some marked ones too.
They had a salad, baked potatoes, mixed hot veggies, grilled chicken breast and prime rib on the buffett. The Prime Rib was the best I have ever had. It was nice and well seasoned.
I even got to take a few pictures, but my camera doesn’t seem to take night pictures all that well. I got a blurry picture of the Downtown Knoxville heading back to the dock. I took one of Thompson Bowling Arena (basketball) and Neyland Stadium (football).
I cannot wait to take a more daytime trip on it one time, so I can take some nicer pictures and such. The boat does go rather slow. For this trip the boat drives out about 45 minutes along the Tennessee River and then turns around and head back to the dock.
The very intresting thing was a coworker of mine use to work for the Star of Knoxville, so he knew a few people that still worked there.

Non-stop Rocky Top!
Today is the day before UT plays football, so Gunner at WIVK likes to play Non-stop Rocky Top starting at 5 p.m. (Every Friday) Today they played a few songs before the Non-stop Rocky Top that involve the Vols. One is “I Want To Do It All” which mentions Wanna see the Vols play ball. The other one is “Tennessee Volun-tears” by Charlie Daniels. Gunner has every version of Rocky Top known to man. Gunner will do this each Friday starting at 5 p.m. He usually starts it right after the “Finially Friday” song. If you are in the Knoxville, TN listening area, you can tune into WIVK at 107.7 FM, if not you can listen online at www.wivk.com. They even played a Pig Latin version, as well as, a Jazercise one too. There was even one that is called “Hands Under Arms Rocky Top”. (fart arm noise you know). I counted 15 Rocky Tops at 5:50 p.m. I had to leave, so I am not totally sure how long it lasted. Oh yea, during that time, they did do Traffic Reports and such.
